CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A pandesal vendor, tagged in the killing of a fellow bread seller in Pampanga on May 28, surrendered to authorities in San Antonio town in Quezon yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Hanzel Marantan, Calabarzon police director, identified the suspect as Ariel Ayao, a native of San Antonio where he went into hiding for several days.

Marantan said Ayao was accompanied by his parents and other relatives when he gave himself up to town Mayor Eric Wagan, who later turned him over to Quezon provincial police chief Col. Romulo Albacea.

According to Albacea, Ayao admitted to killing co-vendor Angelo Muscoso in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Investigation showed the suspect and the victim had an argument and a fistfight, which ended in the fatal shooting of Muscoso.

The Pampanga police said a complaint for murder was filed on June 2.

Marantan said police are eyeing business rivalry, noting that both are engaged in ambulant pandesal stalls.
