ANGELES CITY , Philippines — The number of fatalities in the collapse of a building in Barangay Balibago in this city has risen to 30 after two more bodies were recoered from the rubble in the past two days.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-Central Luzon said the 29th and 30th fatalities were extracted from the ruins at 9:37 p.m. on Monday and at past noon yesterday, respectively.
The bodies were turned over to the Angeles City health office, and the management of the dead and missing team for identification and proper disposition.
As of yesterday, the 17th day of the tragedy, members of the search and rescue operation continued to dig up piles of concrete and steel in the hope of finding survivors
