MANILA, Philippines — Filipino travelers who are having trouble acquiring a Japanese visa might want to try local tourism first, suggested the Palace on Tuesday, January 20.

Travel agencies in the Philippines have stated that it has been difficult to secure a Japanese visa, with appointment slots only opening in April.

However, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that if this was Japan’s policy, they would respect it.

While travelers are waiting for their Japanese visas, however, they could explore the Philippines first, Castro said.

“Mas maganda po sigurong i-explore ng ating mga kababayan ang Pilipinas. Iangat din natin ang turismo ng Pilipinas,” Castro said.
