PAL President Richard Nuttall
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is increasing flights to Los Angeles, California, to capture the growing demand for travel between Manila and the West Coast of the United States (US).
In a statement on Thursday, Nov. 13, PAL announced that it will expand its Manila-Los Angeles nonstop service from the current 14 to 18 flights weekly, starting June 1, 2026.
PAL currently operates the route twice a day, but starting next year, this will increase to three times a day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
PAL President Richard Nuttall said increasing the capacity of this key route provides greater access for travelers from Los Angeles to the airline’s extensive domestic and regional network.
Nuttall added that this would make travel throughout the Philippines and across Asia easier and more convenient.
This, he said, also supports “the dynamic economic relationship that drives opportunities between the Philippines and the US.”
PAL estimates that higher flight frequencies between Manila and Los Angeles would boost cargo capacity by up to 60 tons per week.
Meanwhile, for travelers flying to Los Angeles, they will also benefit from expanded connectivity to other parts of the US through PAL’s airline partners.
Just last week, PAL welcomed its newest partner, Dallas-based low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines Co., securing an interline agreement to provide seamless access for both airlines’ networks.
PAL’s increase in flights to Los Angeles marks a major step for the airline’s planned addition of new routes to North America.
The Lucio Tan-led airline had previously planned to operate flights to major cities such as Las Vegas, Chicago, and Houston. These are still under evaluation, especially due to fleet limitations.
However, for this year, PAL earlier announced the addition of flights on its Manila-Seattle route, increasing from the current three to five times weekly, beginning November 25.
Starting Dec. 16, it will also launch thrice-weekly nonstop flights between Cebu and Guam, the only direct air link between the two destinations. PAL currently flies to Guam from Manila.
Including Guam, PAL serves eight destinations across North America, with nonstop flights to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, and Honolulu.
PAL operates to 31 domestic and 37 international destinations spanning Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
