Pagasa: ‘Habagat’ season upon us, but heat to stay for a while

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon season has begun, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced on Saturday, as it continued to warn of dangerous heat levels in 44 areas around the country. The southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” refers to warm, moist winds originating from the southwest, which bring rains to
