Manny Pacquiao reportedly will receive a purse of $12 million on top of his share from pay-per-view earnings as he came out of retirement to face Mario Barrios

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao remains to be a big draw at the age of 46 and his earnings from his comeback fight reflect that.

Pacquiao reportedly stands to make $17 to $18 million or roughly P1 billion after he battled WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a majority draw in Las Vegas, USA, on Saturday, July 19 (Sunday, July 20, Manila time).

According to reports by the New York Times and Marca, Pacquiao — the only eight-division world champion in boxing history — will receive a purse of around $12 million as he fought for the first time in four years.

Pacquiao had retired in 2021 after his unanimous decision loss to Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas in their bout for the WBA welterweight belt but he came out of retirement to challenge Barrios.

His other earnings from the Barrios fight will come from his share of pay-per-view revenue, which reportedly will net him $5 to $6 million.

In the Philippines, streaming services offered pay-per-view of the Pacquiao-Barrios clash for P499.

Pacquiao proved he can still draw big crowds as over 13,000 fans came to watch him at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in his attempt to break his own record as the oldest welterweight champion.

He showed he can compete even against a foe 16 years younger, with Pacquiao going 12 rounds before the majority draw verdict that saw two of the three judges scoring it tied at 114-114 and the other giving it to Barrios, 115-113.

Now that he is back, Pacquiao looks like he is not stopping anytime soon.
