MANILA, Philippines — Shabu with an estimated street value of P95.2 million was seized in an anti-narcotics operation that also resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker in Surigao del Norte yesterday.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the illegal substance was intercepted at the port of Barangay Lipata in Surigao City.

PDEA-Caraga chief Laurefel Gabales said the contraband, weighing 14 kilos, was found hidden in a spare tire of a pick-up truck driven by a 23-year-old suspect from Taguig City in Metro Manila.

Probers said they would examine the phone of the suspect to determine the source of the illegal substance.

Gabales said that charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 would be filed against the suspect.
