MANILA, Philippines — The Board of Investments (BOI) has granted green lane status to P6.43 trillion worth of investments for faster permit processing.

Data from the investment promotion agency showed that the BOI One-Stop Action Center endorsed 248 projects with combined investments of P6.43 trillion under the green lane initiative from February 2023 to September this year.

These investments are expected to generate 428,074 jobs.

Established under Executive Order 18 issued in February 2023, the green lane initiative seeks to accelerate the implementation of strategic investments through streamlined processing and approval of required permits and licenses.

Of the certified investments, renewable energy (RE) had the biggest share.

In particular, 190 RE projects amounting to P5.52 trillion were approved under the green lane initiative.

The BOI also endorsed 10 digital infrastructure projects with P405.12 billion in investments for expedited permit processing.

In the public-private partnership, infrastructure and water sector, the BOI granted green lane status to six projects worth P416.75 billion.

The BOI also approved 33 food security projects with total investments of P19.68 billion under the green lane initiative.

As for the manufacturing sector, the BOI certified eight projects worth P67.33 billion.

In the pharmaceutical sector, one project amounting to P45 million also received green lane status.

From January to September, the BOI certified 26 projects with total investments of P455.61 billion under the green lane initiative.

These projects are expected to create 46,855 jobs.

Beyond project certifications, the BOI said the green lane initiative has improved permit and licensing facilitation by reducing processing time.

Of the 122 permits processed, the BOI said that the average actual processing time was reduced to 7.67 days, faster than the 19.12-day turnaround time prescribed under the Citizen’s Charter.

“This represents a 59.9-percent reduction in processing time, with an average of 11.45 days saved per permit, demonstrating the initiative’s success in accelerating government approvals, reducing administrative delays, and improving the ease of doing business for strategic investments,” it said.
