ROXAS, Isabela — Police operatives collared two men and seized P28 million worth of dried marijuana bricks at a checkpoint along the national road on Tuesday before midnight in this town, police said on Wednesday.
Cagayan Valley (Region 2) regional police director Brig. Gen. Antonio Marallag Jr. said the police arrested a certain "Rico" and one "Jomel," both 30 years old, of Baranka Ilaya in Mandaluyong City.
The two suspects yielded 222 blocks of marijuana bricks worth P26.64 million based on street value and 19 packs of rolled dried marijuana worth P2.28 million.
"The checkpoints have been proven instrumental like this one in preventing crimes," said Marallag.
"We shall ensure that the checkpoints across the region will be manned 24/7, especially during this election period," added Marallag.
