ZAMBOANGA CITY – Smuggled cigarettes valued at P20 million were seized in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on Friday.
Members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, in coordination with the local police and the Bureau of Customs (BOC), intercepted the contraband at a checkpoint in Barangay Pinantao.
The 345 master cases of assorted brands of cigarettes were loaded in wing van that was pulled over by authorities at around 6:30 a.m.
Police arrested the truck driver after he failed to show documents for the transport of the cargo, which was turned over to the BOC.
