MANILA, Philippines — Two parcels containing 20 kilos of shabu valued at P135.96 million were seized at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay over the weekend.
The contraband was found at the NAIA cargo facility, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
The parcels, shipped from abroad and addressed to a resident of Marilao, Bulacan, were flagged at the X-ray screening counter.
Nartatez said the illegal drugs were stashed in packs of tea and coffee. An on-site field testing by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency showed positive results for shabu.
Meanwhile, a Croatian passenger was arrested at the airport for allegedly carrying shabu worth P28.26 million.
The suspect, identified only as Neri, 48, flew in from Johannesburg, South Africa.
