MANILA, Philippines — Two kilos of shabu with a street value of P13.6 million were seized from two high-value suspects in Magsaysay town in Misamis Oriental on Sunday.
The contraband was found in the possession of the suspects, identified only as Kulot and Joseph, who were apprehended in Barangay Cabantian during a sting by the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group.
PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Elmer Ragay said the operation took place at 10:53 a.m. when the drug dealers negotiated for the sale of shabu.
“We will continue to strengthen inter-agency coordination and intensify intelligence-driven operations to protect our communities from the dangers of illegal drugs,” Ragay said in a statement.
The suspects are detained on drug trafficking complaints.
Meanwhile, a barangay councilor allegedly responsible for the proliferation of shabu in Lambunao town in Iloilo was arrested on Saturday, police reported yesterday.
Western Visayas police chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the official, identified only as Elvis, was arrested in Barangay Pajo at 5:47 p.m.
Anti-narcotics officers seized 30 grams of shabu valued at P204,000 from the 31-year-old suspect.
