MANILA, Philippines — G22, the “Female Alphas” of P-pop, are making their mark in the fashion scene as the newest faces of a leading K-fashion and K-pop brand.

Clad in stylish Y2K ensembles, Alfea, Jaz and AJ instantly set the tone with their back-to-back performances of their songs I Hate Boys and One Sided Love. Some Bullets (fans), content creators and media joined the intimate launch at the PHILFLEX Bay Center, Pasay City on Feb. 21.

Guests enjoyed a variety of interactive booths, including a four-cut frame photobooth and a charm-making station for customized photo holders, along with refreshments and interactions with G22.

As N.Cat Philippines’ newest ambassadors, G22 expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to inspire others through the platform.

“Thank you for giving us a platform. This is another way para maipakita namin kung sino kami as G22... and maka-inspire through fashion,” said AJ.

“With this collaboration, we’re also tapping the fashion side of G22. Sobrang saya na maha-highlight din ‘yun… and it really makes everything more fun,” said Jaz and AJ.

With their launch as the newest “K-Cats,” the trio embodied their personal take on fashion, embracing individuality and self-expression.

Alfea embraces the balance between style and ease. Jaz is always on her “kikay girl” agenda, while AJ loves experimenting with androgynous and maximalist styles.

“Gusto ko ‘yung tumapak pa lang ako, rinig niyo na ako,” quipped AJ, sharing her love for eye-catching “burloloys.”

Fashion is more than just clothing — it’s a personal statement, said G22, who encouraged their fans to experiment with styles that make them feel confident and unique.

“Try to experiment, dip your toes into where you’re a little (comfortable with) to see where the possibility lies,” said Jaz.

AJ, on the other hand, believes that fashion is trial and error. “Hindi mo lang makikilala ‘yung fashion sense mo, but how you want to represent yourself through fashion. It’s like an alter representation of your inner self.”

“There’s only one like you. Once you change your focus to that, ‘I’ll be myself, do what I feel good,’ then you’re already standing out. Just being you, you have a spotlight within,” Jaz emphasized the importance of embracing one’s true self.

Alfea, Jaz and AJ shared that what they love most about the collaboration is getting to play around with fashion. The trio, who are expected to strut the brand’s runway, highlighted their fondness for customization, saying they love trying on what works best for them.

“It feels like we have unlimited ways to express ourselves. It’s really like we can walk into what feels like heaven and bring out how we want to express ourselves,” said Jaz.

The group has a knack for the brand’s wide variety of fashion finds such as earrings as Alfea’s go-to accessories, clip-on earrings and ear cuffs as AJ’s stylish alternatives to traditional piercings and bags and keychains as Jaz’s must-haves.

As part of the growing popularity of the P-pop music scene, the girls expressed joy that the genre is now gaining more recognition and support after a few years.

“It’s only been a couple of years and the growth is really prominent,” said Jaz, recalling their first participation in the “P-pop Convention” in 2022, the same year they debuted.

In March 2024, G22, alongside fellow girl group BINI, proudly showcased Filipino talent on the international stage after appearing on China’s survival show, “Show It All.”

“Ang sayang makita ang mga seniors namin na nagkakaroon ng milestones, may new groups na nagsusulputan, and ‘yung mga ka-batch namin, we’re all thriving. Nakakatuwa na lumalaki ang community,” said the trio.

For this year, G22 aims to widen their discography and reach more people with their music. The girl group has recently changed their display photos on their social media accounts, sparking excitement among fans who are speculating on their upcoming comeback.

The girls, who are also known for their songs Bang! and Boomerang, also left a message for their beloved fans, Bullets: “We love you so much. We truly appreciate you being on this journey with us.”
