MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President maintained yesterday that there were no findings of loss or wastage of government funds or property in the recently released 2024 audit report of the Commission on Audit (COA) for the OVP.
In a statement, the OVP said that the COA’s audit’s primary objectives were to ascertain the level of assurance on the financial statements, determine the propriety of transactions and compliance with applicable laws and recommend improvement opportunities for the agency.
“The OVP highlights that there were no findings of loss or wastage of government funds or property in the audit, and all issues raised were primarily administrative in nature and management agreed to implement all corresponding recommendations to address the observations for Calendar Year 2024,” the OVP said.
The COA, in its report however, flagged two major programs under the OVP for issues in guidelines and low utilization of funds.
The audit body found there were incomplete guidelines and procedures in the OVP’s PagbaBAGo Campaign, which supposedly aims to provide school bags, learning materials and dental kits to learners in remote and economically challenged areas.
The commission also flagged the low budget utilization of the Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day program where only P600,000 or 0.4 percent of the P150 million was spent as of Dec. 31, 2023.
However, the OVP said the COA auditor rendered an unmodified opinion on the fairness of presentation of the financial statements of the OVP as of Dec. 31, 2024.
