MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday, August 10, said the number of Filipinos affected by the recent southwest monsoon or habagat and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante and Emong has reached more than 9.7 million.
According to the NDRRMC, there are 9,720,352 individuals or 2,661,857 families affected by the inclement weather.
Of the total affected individuals, 7,479 families or 28,500 people were housed in evacuation centers.
An additional 11,957 families or 40,597 people received assistance while staying outside of the 265 evacuation centers.
The official death toll remains at 37, with five deaths having been officially validated, while the remaining 32 are still pending validation.
There are also 32 reported injured, while eight were reported missing.
Infrastructure damage. According to the NDRRMC, a total of 108,375 houses were damaged across multiple regions of the Philippines.
Of this number, 97,525 houses were partially damaged while 10,850 houses were totally damaged.
The report also indicated that 815 road sections and 43 bridges were affected.
Damage to agriculture was estimated at over P3.15 billion, impacting 98,307 farmers and fisherfolk.
