MANILA, Philippines — The emergency room of Ospital ng Maynila has exceeded its regular capacity, reaching 171 percent on Thursday.
In an advisory, hospital authorities advised incoming patients to go to other hospitals that could still accommodate additional patients.
“Ospital ng Maynila is asking for the public’s understanding as it continues to do everything possible to ensure that every patient receives the proper attention and care,” the hospital said, as it appealed to patients to bear with the longer waiting time.
The Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department said it would assist patients in need of transfer.
According to Ospital ng Maynila, its emergency room is handling pediatric cases, such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute gastroenteritis and dengue, while its internal medicine department is managing cases of adult community-acquired pneumonia, hypertension, stroke and heart failure.
The general surgery department is attending to trauma cases, including road crash incidents and patients experiencing biliary colic.
The hospital is a 300-bed non-profit tertiary, general and training hospital located in Malate, Manila.
