Oppo has been calling its Reno Series as “OPPO AI Phones”, and that holds especially true with its brand-new OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G. You see, this phone has gotten even more AI features than last year’s offering, the OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G.
So, aside from the usual AI stuff that you hear nowadays, it now comes with a wider range of AI-powered capabilities in terms of cameras and productivity — all packed into a premium sub-flagship device such as the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G.
What are those new AI features exactly? Well, you’re about to see them in action.
OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G specs recap
Before anything else, let’s have a short recap on the key features of the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G.
Powering the device is a near-flagship SoC, the MediaTek Dimensity 8350. Up front, it has a 6.83-inch micro-quad curved AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and runs at 120Hz refresh rate.
It sports a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto — also with OIS.
Battery-wise, it packs a 5800mAh unit paired with 80W of fast charging. One notable feature of the phone is its enhanced durability that matches with the flagships, having an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
On the software side, it runs Android 15 out of the box, skinned with ColorOS 15.
New AI camera features
Now that we know the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G on paper, let’s now dive into the new suite of AI features that it comes with.
On top of the already solid AI-powered camera features from last year such as AI Eraser and AI Studio, the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G adds several more options for users to get the perfect shots. These include AI Unblur, AI Clarity Enhancer, and AI Reflection Remover.
These tools are easily accessible in the Photos app. Simply view an image, tap ‘Edit’ right in the middle, tap on AI Editor, and four options should pop-up.
AI Unblur
If you had a couple of photos taken and all of them were blurry, then AI Unblur is a tool that could help.
Personally, I always save my blurred photos, because in a way, I find some level of aesthetic to them. But hey, at least, users have this nifty option to enhance quality.
AI Clarity Enhancer
Speaking of quality enhancements, there’s also the 4K upscaling option or the so-called AI Clarity Enhancer.
This makes cropping a photo more viable as it can enhance and enlarge details of an image to make it sharper without compromising on image quality.
AI Remove Reflections
Then, there’s the option to remove unwanted reflections on your image.
I found this particularly useful for mirror selfies as the phone can remove stubborn light rays or reflection and it does a pretty good job at that.
This feature is also perfect for capturing stunning landscape photos from inside a car or plane, as it allows you to eliminate those pesky reflections caused by the windows.
AI Livephoto
Notably, the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G has this nifty feature called AI Livephoto which acts similarly to that of iPhone. It captures a video (at 2K resolution) for a second or two after a photo is taken. This serves as a new way to express your images and adds a dynamic touch to your still images.
In my experience, this feature works like a charm! And honestly, it might even do it better than the original.
And when it comes to sharing, I personally like the new ‘Share to iPhone’ feature. With that, you can send images directly from the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G to any of your friends using an iPhone.
The iPhone user can just simply download a lightweight app called “O+ Connect” from the App Store and you’re both set to send and receive photos from each other.
The cherry on top is the file compatibility since those AI Livephotos from the Reno phone work perfectly with an iPhone.
Productivity AI features
Of course, the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G doesn’t miss out on productivity features powered by OPPO AI. These include AI Writer and AI Summary.
If you’re new to OPPO smartphones, these features conveniently pop up on the side whether you’re reading a document or typing a text.
Alternatively, you can enable the Smart Sidebar and the said productivity AI features will be contained here. Just go over to Settings > find the ‘Accessibility & convenience’ tab > tap on Smart Sidebar > and toggle it on.
Once it’s activated, simply swipe from the side and you can now conveniently access these productivity features along with other apps.
Furthermore, users can also do AI Summary through the Recorder app. Yes, you heard that right, the phone can make summaries for your voice recordings.
Simply view a recording in the app > tap on ‘Summarize’ icon > select the language then give the app a few seconds to process > then you should see a text summary attached to the recording itself.
Wrap-up
So, those are the new useful AI features that came with the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G. What is your favorite by far?
