In a grateful and service-filled ceremony held at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish (SSAP) in Makati City, the Catholic Women’s Club (CWC) formally inducted the indefatigable Baby Hidalgo as its president for this year, marking a luminous chapter as the esteemed lay organization celebrates 105 years of unwavering service. The solemn rites began with a Mass led by CWC spiritual adviser and Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula and concelebrated by Bishop of Iba Fr. Bartolome Santos Jr., D.D., SSAP parish priest Fr. Mark Adame Bakari, OFM, and Fr. Jumen Ma. Arcelo, OSM — an impressive gathering that highlighted the club’s deep spiritual moorings within the Archdiocese of Manila.

In her inaugural address, Baby articulated a forward-looking vision anchored on integrity, transparency and joyful sisterhood, underscoring the importance of both sound governance and spiritual nourishment. With the steadfast support of ex-officio president Velia Cruz and a dynamic team of officers, namely, vice presidents Ningning De Ocampo, Lit Del Rosario and Terry Tambunting, board secretary Lin Liboro, treasurer Jemain Diaz De Rivera, and assistant treasurer Shirley Uy, the lay organization continues its noble mission in maternal health, education and poverty alleviation and radiates faith, compassion and enduring solidarity well into its second century.

Accessible healthcare for young Filipinos

Maxicare Group recently joined hands with Robinsons Land Foundation Inc. (RLove) and the Pasig City local government unit (LGU) to bring a meaningful medical mission to Manggahan Elementary School. The initiative, a heartwarming show of corporate and community collaboration, provided free consultations, diagnostic services, and preventive healthcare to around 800 Grade 1 to 6 learners and school personnel, an uplifting step toward ensuring a healthier future for young Filipinos. Led by Maxicare Group president and CEO Christian Argos, together with partners from Southstar Drug, Ideal Vision, Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government, the program demonstrated how public and private sectors can work beautifully together to deliver essential care directly to communities.

By bringing accessible health services right to the school grounds, the project not only eased common barriers to healthcare but also reaffirmed a shared vision of nurturing healthier, brighter generations.
