MANILA, Philippines — Nissan Philippines Inc. is aiming to sell more vehicles this year, banking on demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
“For 2026... definitely we hope to be able to go more than what we did in 2025 through electrified models,” Rhys Alexei Murillo, general manager for compliance, legal, external and government affairs at Nissan Philippines, told reporters.
Data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. showed that Nissan Philippines’ sales declined by 23 percent to 20,571 units in 2025 from 26,774 units in 2024.
At present, Nissan Philippines is selling EV models such as the Leaf and Kicks.
Murillo said the company is looking to bring more EV models to the Philippines.
“We want to be able to introduce a lot more electrified models in the Philippines,” he said, noting the growing demand for these vehicles.
While Nissan Philippines is looking to expand its EV offerings in the country, he said the company would still be bringing internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to the market.
“I think ICE will not go away. It’s also just as important because the Philippines is still growing its infrastructure,” he said.
He said the Urvan, the Navara pickup and Terra sports utility vehicle continue to serve as the company’s sales volume drivers.
The firm is also looking to expand its dealerships and service centers in the country, particularly in provincial areas.
“We’re looking at either we set up actual dealerships or just their service facilities or pop-up stores to be able to service or address the needs of the customers,” Murillo said.
At present, he said Nissan Philippines has over 50 dealerships, with majority equipped with charging stations.
