LISTED natural resource development company Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC) convened its suppliers and business partners recently as it aims to align its supply chain network with the company's sustainability goals and commitments.
This is part of the company's initiatives to account for its Scope 3 emissions and accelerates its drive to realize its environmental, social and governance, or ESG, goals by establishing a resilient and sustainable supply chain.
Scope 3 emissions are those that an organization does not directly own or control and include emissions from activities in the value chain such as supply chain and disposal.
In 2023, NAC initiated the Scope 3 Emissions Inventory in alignment with its 2025 target of 100-percent completion of GHG accounting.
Through the cooperation of the management and all business units, the survey garnered a 100-percent response rate.

Apart from mitigating environmental impact, the company also aims to align the policies of its supply chain partners through the cascade of its policies on Occupational Safety and Health, Human Rights, Anti-Bribery and Supplier Code of Conduct.
"It is incumbent upon every corporate citizen to digest the fragility of the current world situation, what with climate change and its nuances. So it has to be 'all hands-on-deck' with data-driven and science-based strategies, supported by a committed, resilient, supply chain to achieve a responsible and stable sourcing ecosystem pivotal to winning our sustainability dreams," said Jose Bayani Baylon, NAC senior vice president for Sustainability, Risk Management, Corporate Affairs, and Communications.
