BACOLOD CITY — In a major effort to strengthen its power infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity for consumers, Negros Power has completed a two-day massive rehabilitation project over the weekend.

The initiative, which took place on Feb. 22-23, focused on critical areas connected to the Burgos Feeder 3 and the 69 kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line.

The rehabilitation project aimed to enhance the company's power infrastructure, making it more resilient to potential typhoons and other adverse weather conditions.

This proactive approach also seeks to minimize outages and ensure continuous power supply for residential, commercial and industrial consumers across Central Negros.

For two days, dedicated teams from Negros Power worked tirelessly, braving challenging weather conditions and accessibility to complete the extensive rehabilitation efforts.

The project involved the replacement of 18 aging poles and installing 235 new pin insulators along the route from Barangay Granada to Barangay Alangilan.

Tree wires were also deployed along the same stretch, further enhancing the network's stability.

Along the 69 kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line, seven deteriorating poles and three insulators were replaced, further bolstering the structural integrity of the power network.

These targeted upgrades are a crucial part of Negros Power's five-year Rehabilitation and Modernization Program, which focuses on identifying and addressing high-risk areas to ensure continuous and uninterrupted service for all consumers.

"We are prioritizing preemptive upgrades to mitigate risks before calamities strike," Mervin Dalian, assistant vice president of the Network Development and Operations Group of Negros Power, said.

"We are doing this massive rehabilitation in preparation for possible typhoons. We are addressing high-risk areas first so that when a typhoon comes, we won't have problems. We have successfully replaced old poles and insulators," he added.

This proactive approach reflects Negros Power's commitment to ensuring a reliable and efficient power system for the entire franchise area.
