BACOLOD CITY — The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has deployed an additional 595 personnel to ensure the security of local and foreign tourists visiting the province during the summer vacation, including the Holy Week.
The deployment will augment the regular security force assigned to local police stations.
Under Oplan Summer Vacation 2025, the NOCPPO has put up 278 Police Assistance Desks in recreational areas, religious sites, transport terminals, seaports and other public venues.
Beat patrollers and undercover officers will also be assigned to enhance security.
To manage the flow of traffic and ensure road safety, traffic officers and marshals will be stationed along major routes.

Force multipliers will be mobilized to support uniformed personnel and bolster security efforts.
Teams will conduct evaluations to test readiness, with area supervisors overseeing operations across six police districts.
Col. Rainerio de Chavez, provincial police director, urged the public to stay vigilant against criminals who may take advantage of the vacation rush.
He assured the safety and security of both residents and visitors throughout the summer season.
In Bacolod City, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has intensified its security operations as summer vacation begins, anticipating increased public movement and numerous events.
Police said an influx of overseas Filipino workers returning home, especially during Holy Week from April 13 to 20, is also expected.
Events such as Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day and Flores de Mayo are also expected to draw large crowds.
Fiestas and local celebrations may cause road congestion and crowding in transport hubs, seaports, airports and terminals.
Authorities also expect a rise in local and foreign tourists at beaches, hotels, mountain resorts, and other destinations.
Given these circumstances, police said the threat of criminal activity cannot be ruled out.
The BCPO is ramping up proactive patrols and law enforcement coordination to deter lawless elements.
Security personnel have been strategically deployed in cooperation with other agencies to prevent untoward incidents.
With the midterm elections approaching, police are also intensifying operations to maintain peace and order.
