ILOILO CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man in Antique for alleged sextortion, following complaints that he used explicit content to threaten and coerce a victim.
The suspect, identified as Jebson Palmes Gumayao, was apprehended by the NBI in San Jose, Antique, on March 27.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and Article 286 of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes grave coercion.
Based on the investigation, in December 2022, the suspect contacted the complainant and claimed to have a private video of her.
He later sent her a message on Facebook and attached the video, demanding that she meet his demands in exchange for its deletion.

Fearing exposure, the victim was forced to comply and the abuse continued until she became pregnant.
On March 24, the woman reached out to the suspect again, pleading for the video's deletion and an end to the threats.
The suspect instructed her to visit his residence if she wanted the video erased.
Instead of coming over, the woman reported the incident to the local office of the NBI, leading to an entrapment operation on March 27.
The suspect was immediately presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
