AS the Philippine National Police (PNP) Air Unit marks its 57th founding anniversary, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has expressed its full support for the enhancement of the unit’s capabilities to better serve public safety and national security.
Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan, who joined the anniversary celebration, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening the PNP Air Unit. He assured officers and personnel that Napolcom is ready to pass a formal resolution, if necessary, to support the modernization and operational needs of the unit.
“The PNP Air Unit plays a crucial role in rapid deployment, aerial surveillance, disaster response, and search and rescue operations. It is high time we consider elevating the PNP Air Unit into a full-fledged national support unit,” Calinisan said.
He emphasized that enhancing the unit’s logistical and operational capacities is essential to meet the growing demands of law enforcement, especially in times of natural calamities and critical security missions.
The proposal to elevate the PNP Air Unit to national support status would provide it with broader resources, strategic reach, and a stronger mandate within the PNP organization.
