HAILING from Borongan City, Kathreen Kaye Dacanay is set to represent Samar Island in the highly anticipated Miss Universe Philippines national pageant.
Dacanay told The Manila Times in an exclusive interview that her passion for women's empowerment stems from being raised by a strong single mother.
"I know how hard life gets for women, and I'm determined to work alongside the organization and likeminded brands who share the same morals and principles with me," Dacanay said.
"I believe together, we can empower women, thus society and generations to come as well," she added.
Dacanay said her youthful age and novice status in national pageants give her a leverage, enabling her to continually improve and raise the bar, which she believes is a crucial trait for beauty queens to possess.
