CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A mountaineer died after falling off a mountain trail in Subic, Zambales early on Saturday, police reported yesterday.

In a report to Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, acting Central Luzon police director, the municipal tourism officer of Subic said Eric Russel Carlos, a resident of Porac in Pampanga, fell off a mountainous portion of Sitio Martin in Barangay Cawag at 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The Subic Public Order and Safety Office dispatched a rescue team to Sitio Martin, but found Carlos’ lifeless body hours later.
