MANILA, Philippines — Razon-led MORE Electric and Power Corp. is driving its modernization push by expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across its operations and continuing the rollout of smart meters.
The lone power distributor in Iloilo City is integrating AI and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) to quickly detect power issues while helping customers better manage their energy consumption.
“Through the introduction of AI and AMI, we can offer quicker responses to customer concerns, provide more transparency in energy use and help our consumers manage their power more efficiently,” MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro said.
The company plans to use AI-powered analytics to swiftly identify anomalies across the network and respond faster to service interruptions.
It also intends to upgrade its control centers and adopt smart grid solutions to improve its operational efficiency and better serve its customers.
“As MORE Power moves forward with its plans for 2026, we are not only preparing for immediate expansion but also future-proofing Iloilo’s energy system, creating a smart, resilient and sustainable electricity grid for years to come,” Castro said.
Beyond these upgrades, MORE Power is also investing in physical infrastructure to meet Iloilo’s growing electricity demand.
These efforts include building new substations and expanding renewable energy supply to towns in Iloilo’s second and fourth congressional districts.
Recently, the measure seeking to expand the franchise area of MORE Power hurdled the House of Representatives, with deliberations now underway in the Senate.
If enacted into law, this will enable the company to expand its electric service to the municipalities of Iloilo’s first district, including Igbaras, Tubungan, Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao and San Joaquin.
