Passengers bound for southern Luzon flock to the Cubao Bus Terminal on March 28, 2026

MANILA, Philippines — With many people opting to travel by bus to save fuel, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange said more passengers might use PITX this Holy Week.
Jason Salvador, PITX head of corporate communications, said many motorists no longer want to use their private vehicles and are shifting to public transportation to get to and from their destinations.
“Those who used private vehicles before are now commuting. Those who board airplanes before will also use buses,” Salvador said over dzRH.
According to industry sources, diesel will approach P150 per liter next week while airfares are set to rise for 15 days in April by as much as P787 on domestic flights and P6,208 on international flights.
Salvador said PITX is expecting three million passengers between March 22 and April 6.
However, in the first six days alone, foot traffic has already exceeded one million, he added.
Salvador said a surge in the volume of passengers would lead to longer wait times, especially for those who did not book tickets.
“If they will have to wait, we prefer that they stay inside PITX where they are secured. It’s air-conditioned and there are a lot of food options. They will feel safe and comfortable,” Salvador said.
Personnel from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Department of Transportation will be at PITX to issue special permits, if more buses are needed.
