MANILA, Philippines — Nine more motorcycle taxi firms have been summoned by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) over the investigation into alleged “tempo” drivers.
This brought to 30 the number of ride-hailing companies being probed over the illegal onboarding of Transport Network Vehicle Service and motorcycle taxis in their respective online platforms.
The LTFRB set a hearing on May 15.
Meanwhile, six bus operators were issued show-cause orders for not following the fare discount policy under the service contracting program.
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said bus operators under the program are mandated to provide a 20-percent discount to passengers.
Senior citizens, persons with disability and students are entitled to a total 40-percent discount.
