MANILA, Philippines — Generation Z is emerging as the fastest-growing group of online taxpayers in the Philippines, according to online tax compliance platform Taxumo.
Based on its 2026 State of Online Taxation report, Taxumo said Gen Z filers – those born between 1997 and 2012 – increased by 19.6 percent this year, accounting for 26.7 percent of income filings in 2026.
Millennials, born between 1981 and 1996, remained the biggest group of online taxpayers, comprising 62.4 percent of digital filings.
They were followed by Gen X at 9.6 percent, while Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation each accounted for less than two percent.
Overall, Taxumo recorded a 43 percent compound growth rate in online tax payments as more Filipinos navigated irregular earnings, rising costs and changing work conditions.
“Digital tax filing is no longer limited to tech companies or large businesses. Traditional industries and service-based businesses are also adopting digital tools to meet their tax obligations,” it said.
The report also showed that the technology and digital sector accounted for the largest share of online taxpayers at 32.7 percent.
Information and software development posted the biggest share of Taxumo filers in 2026 and higher incomes.
Meanwhile, other large groups, such as virtual assistants and administrative services, had many filers with lower-income contributions.
“Traditional and service-based industries such as agriculture and farming, veterinary and pet services, wellness, hardware and home improvement and security and investigation also showed strong median tax remittance levels,” Taxumo said.
Meanwhile, declared income among Taxumo users increased by 12.5 percent for men and 4.8 percent for women, while non-binary filers recorded a 35.6 percent decline.
By gender, male taxpayers comprised 60.4 percent of the platform’s filers, followed by women at 38.8 percent, while non-binary taxpayers accounted for less than one percent of the total filer base.
