MANILA, Philippines — More evidence has been disclosed by the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor in the crimes against humanity case of detained former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Forming the sixth set of evidence in Duterte’s case, 90 additional items will be presented during the confirmation of charges hearing in September.

Documents related to barangay clearance operations and background information comprised the items.

Other evidence to be presented at the September hearing include 8,565 pages of 421 written evidence, nine photographs and 30 audio-visual files with a total running time of 15 hours and 55 minutes, as cited in the original application for an arrest warrant against Duterte, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said earlier.

In a three-page filing dated June 3, ICC deputy prosecutor Mame Mandiaye Niang informed pre-trial judges that 90 more items were disclosed to Duterte’s defense team.

The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I has given the prosecution until July 1 to disclose all evidence that will be used during the hearing on Sept. 23.

Duterte to seek  damages

Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque said monetary damages will also be sought before a Dutch court over the alleged illegal arrest of Duterte.

Roque had floated the idea of exploring domestic laws in the Netherlands to secure Duterte’s release.

“In the remedy we will get from the Netherlands, there should be reparations. Release (Duterte), but there should also be damages of millions of euros because the arrest was illegal,” Roque said in a video posted on Facebook.

Roque will recommend a lawyer from Amsterdam to handle the filing of a case before a local court.

“He is a full-time faculty at the University of Amsterdam. I will recommend him to Vice President Sara Duterte... He is a lawyer of the European Court of Human Rights and a lawyer (accredited by the) ICC,” he noted.

Sara back in Philippines

The Vice President is back in the Philippines after visiting her father.

Roque said Sara and her brother, outgoing Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, left The Hague on Wednesday.

Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte is expected to visit his father on June 14.

Sara will be briefed on local developments, particularly her impending impeachment trial.
