While ABS-CBN content remains at the core of the iWant app’s offerings, the platform now includes select films and series from former rival GMA

MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN has truly embraced its pivot.

While the former broadcast giant used to figure in a heated rating battle with GMA, ABS-CBN has focused on global content creation after losing its network franchise, and has also since partnered with its former rival.

And it looks like the collaborations between ABS-CBN and GMA will keep growing, and the latest venture includes the Kapamilya streaming platform, iWant.

As the media giant bid farewell to the Millenium Transmitter — a physical representation of the network’s legacy in television and broadcasting — ABS-CBN digital head Jaime Lopez said the company is well positioned in the digital world, and it was made possible through iWant’s global reach.

The upgrade arrives alongside iWant’s broadened slate of content. While ABS-CBN Studios remains at the core of its offerings, the platform now includes select films and series from GMA, Regal Entertainment, and Viva.

“[It’s a] place where we welcome all storytellers and all types of storytelling,” said Lopez. “Somewhere that we can all be proud of, but most importantly, where we will continue to be of service to the Filipino.”

The new app also features faster performance, sharper video previews, and seamless functionality across smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, and desktops. It also supports Chromecast and AirPlay, making the platform more accessible across a wide range of devices.

This announcement came fresh off another ABS-CBN and GMA partnership, the successful Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition, which featured celebrities from the Sparkle GMA Artist Center and ABS-CBN’s Star Magic and aired in their different platforms.

Other past partnerships included projects like the TV shows It’s Showtime and Unbreak My Heart, and the record blockbuster movie Hello, Love, Again.

Ivan Palawi, director of iWant’s recently released Love At First Spike, commended the platform’s commitment to creative freedom.
