MANILA, Philippines — SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena has reinforced its position as the country’s premier indoor venue for sports and entertainment, catering to sustained demand from both international and domestic promoters.
Its parent firm SM Prime said MOA Arena last year mounted more than 200 events and welcomed over 1.1 million attendees, 10 percent higher than the previous year.
Since opening in 2012, the 15,000-seat venue has hosted over 2,400 shows, serving as the Philippine stage for major global tours and high-profile sporting and cultural events.
“These events reflect the strength of demand for large-scale, professionally managed venues in the Philippines,” SM Prime president Jeffrey Lim said.
SM Prime has implemented targeted infrastructure and technology upgrades across its arena platform to maintain long-term competitiveness.
A $2.1-million installation of a new center-hung LED system in MOA Arena was completed last year, enhancing visual clarity and production flexibility for sports and concert configurations.
Earlier enhancements included large-format digital displays and upgraded entry systems designed to improve crowd flow, operational efficiency and security.
“Our continued investments in our arena portfolio align with our strategy to strengthen our integrated developments, support tourism and deliver compelling live experiences to our customers,” Lim said.
SM Prime, the integrated property development arm of the SM Group, is set to expand its arena footprint with the opening of SM Seaside Cebu Arena in the second quarter.
Located within the integrated SM Seaside City Cebu development, the new venue is expected to broaden access to large-scale entertainment in the Visayas while contributing to tourism, retail activity and regional economic participation.
Beyond its flagship arena, SM Prime continues to support live events through medium- and outdoor-format venues across its portfolio, which have a total capacity of 110,000 guests.
These include the SMDC Festival Grounds, which can accommodate up to 70,000 attendees; the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, with a capacity of up to 20,000; and the SM Cebu Concert Grounds, which can host up to 20,000 guests.
