The body of the victim, identified as Michaela Mickova, a citizen of Slovakia, was discovered around 2:19 p.m. on March 12 in an abandoned chapel at Zone 3, Sitio Pinaungon, Barangay Balabag.

A local resident stumbled upon the body, which was already in a state of decomposition, and reported it to the police at 3:50 p.m.

Mickova was reportedly found lying on her back with no clothes from the waist down and her legs spread apart.

She was wearing an upper garment, but it was rolled up. Her shoes, however, remained on.

She also had a belt bag but her wallet was missing.

Initial findings suggest she suffered a stab wound to the abdomen, but investigators are still determining the exact cause of death through an autopsy.

Mickova, who arrived in Boracay on March 1 to attend a Filipina friend's wedding, was reported missing on March 10. Her last known sighting was at 1 p.m. on the same day.

The location where she was found is approximately one kilometer from her accommodations.

Investigators have yet to identify a person of interest.

Justice will be served

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director BGen. Jack Wanky vowed to leave "no stone unturned" in bringing Mickova's killer to justice.

"We will not allow this abomination to disrupt the peaceful and serene communities on the paradise island of Boracay, considering that this is an isolat-ed incident," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Wanky also assured the public that Boracay Island remains a safe and secure destination, with law enforcement authorities committed to maintaining peace and order.

"PRO-6 shall not rest until the criminals are apprehended and prosecuted before our court of law. In the meantime, we ask the community to extend full cooperation to our investigators and to say a prayer for Michaela Mickova and her family," he added.
