MANILA, Philippines — The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 pageant pool has been trimmed down to a round 50 contestants following the removal of one competitor.

The Miss Universe Philippines organization (MUPH) released a statement on its social media accounts confirming that a delegate had been disallowed to continue in the competition.

The organization began by saying it "values individuality and encourages each delegate to express herself authentically."

"We remain committed to maintaining a positive and respectful environment for all — one that supports fellow delegates, honors our partners, and upholds the integrity of our organization," MUPH said.

MUPH acknowledged that concerns were brought to them involving one candidate to which the organization conducted a careful and thorough review.

The delegate in question had been given verbal and written notice to address the situation at hand.

"Despite these efforts, certain behaviors continued in ways that were not aligned with the standards we aim to uphold," MUPH continued. "As such, it has been decided that the delegate will no longer be allowed to continue in the competition."

The organization reiterated that it believes in fostering an environment that is "uplifting, respectful, and empowering to women" and that it remains dedicated the competition remains constructive and meaningful for all involved.

The statement ended with MUPH thanking the public for their understanding and support, without directly naming which contestant had been removed.

Pageant fans have speculated that the now-former competitor in question is Imelda Schweighart, the representative for Kalibo, Aklan who previously competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2013, Miss Earth 2016 (though resigned the national title afterwards) and Miss Universe Germany 2023.

This following allegations that Schweighart had riffs with other contestants behind closed doors, which would add to a list of controversial issues in her pageantry history.

Adding to the speculations is Schweighart's photos no longer appearing in recent sponsored pictorials for the pageant.

Miss Universe Philippines 2026 will continue with the coronation night set on May 1, Labor Day, where Ahtisa Manalo will crown her successor.

The new titleholder will represent the Philippines at the diamond edition of Miss Universe to be held in Puerto Rico later this year.
