MORE than half a million pesos in assistance had been provided by the national and local government to thousands of individuals affected by the flooding spawned by shear line in Palawan and Oriental Mindoro.
According to the latest situation report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, a total of P575,129 in assistance were provided to 1,393 families.
The same report said that 47,461 individuals from 13,958 families spread across 75 villages in Palawan and Oriental Mindoro were affected.
Not much has been reported as to the damage to infrastructure and agriculture.
Earlier reports said that at least four weather systems — shear line, northeast monsoon, easterlies and localized thunderstorms — will be affecting most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the combined effects of shear line and easterlies are bringing overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Capiz, Aklan, Iloilo, Bicol Region and Romblon.
