The historic arrival of the Michelin Guide in the Philippines was first announced in February, much to the excitement of patrons and chefs alike.

The inaugural, invitation-only Michelin Guide Ceremony Manila and Environs & Cebu 2026 will gather chefs, restaurateurs, industry leaders, official Michelin Guide partners, and media representatives from around the world, and will not only present Filipino culture and food that evening, but also act as a rich platform for cross-border collaboration and culinary inspiration.

Among the esteemed chefs attending are chef Guillaume Galliot of Caprice (three Michelin stars, Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2025); chef Darren Teoh of Dewakan (two Michelin stars, Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2025); chef Vicky Cheng of VEA (one Michelin star, Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2025); and chefs Tim Flores and Genie Kwon, who head Chicago’s Kasama, the only Filipino-owned restaurant so far with one Michelin star.

On October 30, Michelin will announce the Michelin Guide Selected Restaurants, which are featured on the official website as accredited recommendations; as well as the Michelin Guide Special Awards, which honors “outstanding individuals across key areas of the industry,” and the Bib Gourmand Selection, which awards restaurants offering the “best value for money,” often with simpler styles of cooking and have dishes that are satisfying, not unfamiliar, and reasonably priced.

The selections are made by independent and anonymous Michelin Guide inspectors based on five global criteria: quality of ingredients, mastery of technique, harmony of flavors, the chef’s personality expressed through cuisine, and consistency. Each awarded restaurant must meet a “world-class standard of excellence.”
