MGen fires up 52-MW solar power plant in Isabela

Awarded under the government’s second green energy auction (GEA-2), the 52.8-megawatt MGreen Cordon Solar was activated ahead of its original completion date of July this year.

MANILA, Philippines —  Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) of tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan has fired up its seventh solar power plant in the country, this time a large-scale facility in Isabela.

Awarded under the government’s second green energy auction (GEA-2), the 52.8-megawatt (MW) MGreen Cordon Solar was activated ahead of its original completion date of July this year.

The project is expected to provide clean and sustainable power to over 53,000 homes and displace more than 50,400 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, said Dennis Jordan, president and CEO of MGen Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen), the renewable power arm of MGen.
