MANILA, Philippines — Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, best known for her lead role in the hit drama "Meteor Garden," has died from flu-related pneumonia. She was 48.
Hsu's younger sister, talk show host Dee Hsu, confirmed the news Monday through her agent.
"During the New Year holiday, our whole family traveled to Japan. My dearest and kindest sister, Barbie Hsu, unfortunately passed away due to flu-related pneumonia. I am grateful to have been her sister in this lifetime, to have cared for each other and accompanied each other," Dee Hsu said in a statement to Taiwanese network TVBS News.
"I will always be thankful for her and miss her forever. Shan~ Rest in peace! Love you always — Together, remember forever," she added.
The farewell ceremony arrangements for Barbie Hsu are still being discussed.

Hsu is survived by her husband, South Korean singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup, as well as her two children, a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, from her previous marriage to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
The actress rose to fame in 2001 with her portrayal of Dong Shancai in "Meteor Garden," a Taiwanese adaptation of "Boys Over Flowers," where she starred alongside boy group F4 namely Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu.
She is also known for her roles in TV series "Mars" (2004), where she co-starred with Chou, "Corner with Love" (2007) and "Summer's Desire" (2010).
She stopped acting after her first marriage in 2011, but still appeared in variety shows and advertisements.
