Meta changes the color of the Messenger logo

The latest update for the Facebook Messenger app has transformed its logo from a vibrant purple gradient color to a striking shade of blue!  Have you spotted the change?

You might have noticed that the Messenger app logo has turned blue.  It’s possibly a move by Meta to streamline the appearances of their apps. Blue, after all, is Facebook’s color. With the number of apps Meta has, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, they would probably want to push their OGs.

It’s uncertain if they intend to change the rest of the apps as well, and the change in Messenger is just a test run.

Personally, I don’t like the plain blue color of the Messenger app. We’re already in an era where logos have become overly simple, dull, and devoid of personality (Check out Instagram’s OG logo, the camera-looking thing for instance). Although it is understandable that these oversimplified logos have a more sophisticated and mature approach, like growing up from the chaos of the ‘90s era. According to what I've read about oversimplified logos, it’s also a reflection of current society, which I think is quite interesting.

The point is, the color change has made the Messenger app look basic. And in a time where there is an abundance of apps out there, many of which are doing the same thing as others, perhaps looking basic is what Meta needs right now.
