MANILA, Philippines — Actor McCoy de Leon continued expressing his devotion to the Black Nazarene by spontaneously catching up the longest Traslacion in history.

The Kapamilya actor recounted his experience in an Instagram post featuring clips of his Traslacion 2026 participation.

McCoy initially thought he would not make it to this year's procession as he had a shoot that finished at 2 a.m., instead just buying a handkerchief and shirt for devotees like himself.

He was unable to enter Quiapo Church where he initially intended to offer prayers but still took in the religious environment.

"Pauwi ako hindi ako mapakali paikot-ikot sa paligid ng Quaipo na parang may kulang," McCoy continued in his post's caption.

"Kaya nagdesisyon ako na hanapin siya bahala na kung ano ang mangyrari. Baka hindi na ganto sa mga susunod na taon," he added.

The actor managed to spot the image of the Black Nazarene approaching, and with the help of other devotees got close and kissed the image's cross.

Clips on McCoy's post show the actor purchasing his clothing, the arrival of the Nazareno and a blacked out video supposedly of the moment McCoy got close to the image.

"Poong Nazareno hindi kita susukuan tulad ng hindi mo pagsuko sa akin," McCoy ended his caption. Later on his Instagram stories, the actor posted photos of his bare feet and the clothes he wore.

The Black Nazarene finally arrived at Quiapo Church nearly 31 hours after the Traslacion began, marking a historic first as hundreds of thousands of Filipinos thronged the 5.8-kilometer route.

Since it rolled out from the Quirino Grandstand at 3:58 a.m. on Friday, January 9, the "andas" or the wheeled carriage bearing the statue of Jesus Christ inched its way through the procession’s route. — with reports from Dominique Nicole Flores
