MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has named Anna Liza Logan as chief presidential legal counsel, replacing the late Juan Ponce Enrile.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro announced Logan’s appointment, along with new officials of the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), during a Palace briefing on Tuesday.
Logan served as deputy executive secretary for legal affairs, according to her profile on the website of the Philippine National Railways (PNR).
She was on the board of directors of PNR, representing the Office of the President.
Logan “has very extensive law practice in Civil and Criminal Litigation; Family, Labor and Human Settlements Adjudication Commission Cases, Corporate and Commercial practice for financial technology companies, real estate development entities and NGO (non-governmental organization).”
She was also partner of Logan Masukat Ronulo Huang, junior partner of the law firm Marcos Ochoa Serapio and Tan (MOST), and associate of Agabin Verzola Hermoso Layaoen & De Castro.
Enrile died on Nov. 13 at the age of 101.
Meanwhile, Marcos also appointed lawyers Maria Luwalhati Dorotan Tiuseco as senior deputy executive secretary, Danielle Marie Rieza-Culangen as deputy executive secretary for general administration, Joseph Irvin Obenza as deputy executive secretary for financial affairs, and Jesse Hermogenes Andres as deputy executive secretary for legal affairs.
Andres is a former justice department official and lawyer who led the government’s anti-trafficking body.
“Yes, he (Andres) will be my deputy ES for legal and represent me in a few coordinating councils. He’s very good and will be an asset at the Office of the Executive Secretary,” Executive Secretary Ralph Recto told The STAR yesterday.
Andres served as the executive director of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
He also worked as officer-in-charge of the Energy Regulatory Commission, the regulator of the country’s power industry.
The President also named Erwin Sta. Ana as undersecretary for economic affairs and Alemar Mosquito as assistant secretary, both under the OES.
The new appointments in OES came following the designation of former finance chief Recto as executive secretary last month, replacing Lucas Bersamin.
