MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos visited Cebu yesterday to inspect government projects designed to help street dwellers and accelerate the distribution of aid in disaster-hit areas.
His first stop was the Pag-Abot Processing Center in Liloan, established to provide health services, livelihood assistance, psychosocial support, food, clothing, temporary housing and other forms of aid to homeless persons.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extends social protection services and holistic interventions through the facility for street dwellers as they await reintegration into their communities.
Marcos was accompanied by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco and Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco Frasco.
Marcos also led the inauguration of the upgraded Visayas Disaster Resource Center-Mechanized Production System, which allows the national government to directly provide relief to areas affected by disasters.
The P117-million upgrade project tripled the relief hub’s production capacity to up to 30,000 family food packs per eight-hour shift.
