MANILA, Philippines — Cash aid, fuel subsidy and free rides are in place to ease the impact of soaring fuel prices, President Marcos said yesterday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines would reduce the passenger service charge, landing, parking and other fees to help reduce costs incurred by airlines and passengers, Marcos said.

Around 139,000 tricycle drivers in Metro Manila will each receive P5,000 starting today amid soaring fuel prices, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Thirty payout sites will distribute the cash aid funded through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

“We will finish the distribution by Thursday,” Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian said.
