Manny Calayan reveals past 'illicit affair' with vlogger

MANILA, Philippines — Cosmetic doctor Manny Calayan admitted that he had an affair with a vlogger and revealed that he and his fellow cosmetic doctor Pie Calayan had long been separated. 

Manny confirmed his separation from Pie in 2024 but the doctor to the stars revealed that they "parted ways" in 2019. He clarified that they did not file for annulment for their marriage. 

According to Manny, there was tension between him and Pie even before their separation. 

"Nagka-clash lang. Maliliit na bagay. Iba na siya, iba na rin ako. Lagi kaming nag-aaway, and then sabi ng mga anak namin, 'Mag-hiwalay na kayo kaysa sa nakikita namin kayong laging magkaaway. Hindi naman healthy iyan,'" Manny told veteran broadcast journalist Susan Enriquez for the latter's vlog. 

"Ano ba, tingin mo parang na-fall out of love ka, ganun, or siya sa iyo?" Susan asked Manny.

"Oo, parang ganun — parang ako," he answered.

Manny said his feelings for his wife had changed since she left the country to join their children who were studying abroad. Pie was based overseas for five years. 

The veteran broadcast journalist clarified about his status during the years that Pie was abroad. 

"Illicit affair lang, hindi naman love child," Manny said. 

Later, Manny fell in love with another woman, an affair that reached Pie and made her fly home to confront him.

"Pag-uwi niya to confirm, na-confirm nga niya," he said.

Manny said that even though there was confrontation, their marriage did not end in immediate separation. Despite what happened, they were still together for four years, which he described as "cold years." The doctor said they tried to save it but other factors prevented them from working on their marriage. 

"Iba na 'yung lifestyle ko, e. 'Yung lumalabas gabi-gabi, wala kasing asawa, nasa malayo. E, ang daming tukso," he said.

Based on Manny's story, he had an affair with a vlogger who became Pie's patient. 

"Nagpa-derma sa kanya. Hindi ko alam ba't tama [ang kutob niya], ang galing-galing ng instinct [ni Pie]. Tapos sabi niya [sa pasyente niya], 'Vlogger ka?'

"Tinawag [ni Pie] 'yung anak ko, 'Bernice, tingnan mo ito, tingnan mo 'yung [pasyente]. E, maganda, bata, iyan 'yung dating kinalolokohan [ng tatay mo]."

Manny, who was in Canada at the time, received a call from his vlogger girlfriend.

"Tawag sa akin, sabi, 'Yung asawa mo, dinetain ako sa clinic. In-interrogate,'" Manny recalled. 

"Umamin na daw siya. Sabi ko, 'Patay! Pag-uwi ko nito, madugong engkuwentruhan.'"

Manny said that he just admitted to Pie about his affair with the vlogger. Their relationship lasted for three years. 

Despite everything, the former couple remains business partners, even though Pie has changed her last name, now known as Dra. Pie Cabrera.

"Business-wise, yes, we're still business partners," he said.

"Hindi namin pinapalitan 'yung pangalan ng Manny and Pie Calayan Clinic, kasi andiyan na iyan, e. Kilala na iyan."
