Manila LGU to shoulder jeepney drivers’ earnings to offer free rides

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila local government unit (LGU) will subsidize jeepney drivers, giving them around P3,000 each per day in exchange for providing free rides for commuters in the metro’s capital, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced Friday. According to Domagoso, more than 1,400 jeepney drivers are expected to participate in the program, which
