MANILA, Philippines — Transport group Manibela ended its planned three-day strike on Thursday, September 18, following an appeal from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
According to reports, Manibela said LTFRB requested that the transport group call off the strike.
Manibela Chairperson Mar Valbuena said LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III acknowledged that commuters were struggling to find transportation and urged them to stop the protest since a dialogue was already underway.
Manibela began its strike on Wednesday, September 17, in protest against corruption and alleged misuse of public funds.
Meanwhile, another transport group, PISTON, also launched a one-day protest on Thursday.
The transport strike forced several classes in Metro Manila to shift to online learning.
