Maki performed at the Philippine Arena last weekend as a guest at BINI’s Grand BINIverse concert, and he's nothing short of grateful.
On the red carpet at the launch of The Official Philippines Chart Wednesday, the “Dilaw” hitmaker said that performing for 55,000 people was, “nakakalula po, to be honest.”
“Kung nakikita niyo po ‘yung mga tao, nakakalula siya but siya ‘yung lula na gusto kong laging nararamdaman kasi it’s so surreal,” Maki told reporters.
According to the rising singer, people online would often tell him that they enjoy his songs, but seeing the huge crowd became proof that he has indeed reached a lot of people.
“Gustong-gusto kong sinasabi na I’m so, so happy. And I’m just so grateful na I get to be in a place na pinapangarap ko," he said.
He added that a lot of people would love to be in his place right now and would also be terrified of it. However, he's "just turning every anxious feeling into excitement."
“Kasi there’s just more to come and ito ‘yung gusto kong gawin ever since bata ako. So yeah, this is the moment and sayang 'di ba. Nandiyan ‘yung star sa harapan mo, grab it.”
Maki also praised BINI for working hard and pulling off a sold-out show at the Philippine Arena.
“It’s very remarkable sa ganitong industry kasi hindi siya basta-basta nangyayari,” he said.
“Kumbaga it’s an event where a group of people like us, talagang nag-wo-work hard tayo for our own, you know, local music. Para sa ‘kin, sobrang special ng moment na ‘to."
Aside from his Grand BINIverse performance, Maki previously shared the Philippine Arena stage with LANY as a surprise guest.
He was honored by The Official Philippines Chart for having spots in the Top 10 Local Artists of the Year 2024 and Top 10 Local Songs of the Year 2024 for “Dilaw.”
