IBA, Zambales — President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) President Roy Villalobos and guest of honor Zambales 2nd District Rep. Bing Maniquiz led the commemoration of the 68th death anniversary of former president Ramon Magsaysay on Monday.
In his speech, Villalobos highlighted the significance of honoring the legacy of the seventh president of the Philippines, famously known as the "Man of the Masses."
"We are here to commemorate the 68th death anniversary of President Ramon Magsaysay — an exceptional leader, a true public servant, and a patriotic Filipino," said Villalobos, who underscored PRMSU's commitment to uphold Magsaysay's principles of integrity and public service.

"Obstacles should not hinder us but rather strengthen our determination. Parents must always stand by their children, supporting them in every step they take. Believe in yourself and your capabilities — do not fear challenges, because with unwavering determination, we can overcome anything," she said in Filipino.
Maniquiz also shared her firsthand experience attending a PRMSU graduation ceremony, where she was deeply moved by the sight of parents waiting outside the venue under the scorching heat of the sun, unable to fully experience their children's milestone.
This, she said, fueled her determination to secure funding to improve the university's facilities.
"Finding funds is never easy — it feels like begging. You spend entire days setting appointments, pleading for resources. But I do not mind because I know that every effort goes toward the welfare of our students and their families," the lawmaker said.
Maniquiz said she was able to secure a total of P250 million for the construction of a multipurpose building at PRMSU.
The funding includes P50 million from her office in 2023 and another P50 million this year 2025, P100 million from House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and P50 million from former senator and current Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
While delays in the bidding process at the Department of Public Works and Highways regional office initially hampered progress, construction has now resumed.
"All the necessary funds are now in place and included in the General Appropriations Act," Maniquiz confirmed.
Following the program, Maniquiz inspected the ongoing construction of the P250-million building.
Maniquiz and Villalobos also led the floral offering at the late president's monument.
