MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has sacked two traffic enforcers for alleged extortion.

Authorities nabbed a job order employee of the LTO accepting illegal fees through digital wallet. A regular employee was suspended pending an investigation for illegally collecting money.

Another regular employee has been suspended for 90 days for alleged bribery.

Meanwhile, an official of the Special Action Intelligence Committee for Transportation has been relieved from his post for flagging an ambulance along the EDSA busway.

Rayson dela Torre has been removed as head of the Department of Transportation’s special operations group.

He claimed that the ambulance “was transporting a patient for a medical checkup and not for an emergency case.”

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said on-duty ambulances are allowed to use the busway “regardless of the condition of the patient.”
